Key Points:
-
Carbohydrates are
the healthiest foods nature makes in their more natural state:
Fruits, Vegetables, Whole Grains.
-
Processed and
refined is not natural and avoid Instants.
-
Eat whole
fruits/vegetables rather than drinking juices to get the fiber which
will keep you full longer too.
-
Select whole grain
pastas, bagels, breads products, cereals. Simple rule: Brown is
usually better than white in any flour/grain product and grainy is
best.
-
Potatoes are a
great carbohydrate but do not fry or cover in cheese, bacon, butter,
and sour cream.
-
Make baked
goods with whole wheat baking flour, a heart healthy butter
substitute like Smart Balance or vegetable oil, use 1/2 the sugar
and/or try a sugar substitute made for baking.
-
These high quality
Carbohydrates will make and keep you energized and lean. Quality is
key - including quality in their preparation.
