Key
Points:
1. Avoid food
containing the unhealthy TRANS FATS & HYDROGENATED FATS. These are
found in many foods, often hidden.
2. Common
foods to avoid are Hydrogenated Margarines, Frostings, Pre-Packaged
Baked Goods, Crackers, Fast Foods, and Quick Snacks.
3. These fats
were created and are used by the processed food industry because they
are less expensive, provide a longer shelf life, and decrease
refrigeration requirement.
4. Limit your
intake of these BAD fats and increase your intake of Heart Healthy
Fats to 25% of your daily caloric intake.
5. The GOOD
FATS: Olive, Sunflower, Canola, Sesame, Peanut, and other Pure
Vegetable Oils; Fish Oils; Omega Oils found in foods such as Salmon,
Walnuts; Avocado; Nuts; Seeds; Olives; & Nut Butters.
