Key Points:
1. Dairy
Products are a combination of Protein and Carbohydrate.
2. Lowfat
/ Nonfat are the key choices to avoid the UNHEALTHY SATURATED FAT in
full fat dairy products.
3. Great
source of Calcium which is necessary for not only strong bones but
also contributes to many bodily
functions such as muscle contraction and maintaining normal blood
pressure.
4. Good
choices are Skim and 1% milk, lowfat cheeses, lowfat/nonfat cottage
cheese, lowfat/nonfat plain yogurt, and non-sugar sweetened "lite"
fruit flavored yogurts.
5. Avoid
sugar flavored yogurts, even if low or non fat because too much
refined unhealthy sugar. If more than 15 grams of sugar per serving,
avoid.
6. If
renal or kidney problems, check with your doctor regarding dairy
