Key Points:
1. The
utilization of computers and video games by our youth in addition to
television viewing has reduced our youths' physical activity. As a
result, it is important parents, teachers, and babysitters/day care
centers focus on incorporating and teaching the value of physical
activity. Holiday gift giving is a great opportunity to give toys
that are fun and require physical activity.
2. Favorites
include bicycles, tricycles, snow sleds, those cute little cars for
tots that they can stand in and require leg movement to move.
3. Look for
many of the new video games that are physically interactive
combining the best of modern technology with physical activity.
4. Gifts for
ball games including baseball, basketball, basic throwing and
catching, and kickball give adults an opportunity to get some
physical activity with their children - great for both.
5. Some
inexpensive fun toys include Frisbees, a balance board, hopscotch
mat, pogo stick, any size ball, and fun water bottle to keep
hydrated.
6. Happy
Holidays. Have fun and be safe!
