The most frequent question I get is "I
saw you on WKBN, what is The Fitnesst?" As we discussed
last week, nutrition is a key component of our program. This week,
we will discuss our exercise component. Together, the components of
Exercise and Nutrition assist our clients in living a healthier and more
fit lifestyle.
Exercise and Activity are key to a healthy and body. Activity is
what one does during the course of an average day such as walking to
and from wherever, taking a bath/shower, housekeeping, or routine
work activity. Exercise exerts energy over and above normal
activity to improve and strengthen the body such as the circulatory
system or muscular structure. There are numerous forms of
exercise. The key is finding ones you like that you will do on a
regular basis exercising the circulatory system through an aerobic
activity such as walking, jogging, elliptical training, or biking;
and muscle strengthening exercises such as arm curls, lunges, or
shoulder raises using some form of additional weight resistance
such as stretch bands or dumbbells. Exercises like sit-ups or push
ups utilize your own body's weight the resistance. Always check with
your Doctor before beginning any exercise program
